Chris Matthews and Obama’s accomplishments….

In Election '08, Politics, current news analysis on February 20, 2008 at 4:49 am

mrsmith-congress.jpg

You know I must admit that Barack Obama’s list of accomplishments in the US senate isn’t that long but what I will ask is how could it be? He’s only been there what three years while Hillary has been there for 8 years! So of course her list of accomplishments would be much longer than Obama’s especially in a place like the US Senate where it’s all about seniority, contacts and getting on the right committees and sub committees which again is based on seniority and contacts and then remember Obama has spent two out of three of those years in a Republican controlled Senate.

I watched Chris Matthews, tonight on MSNBC once again put an Obama supporter/surrogate on the spot when it comes to listing Barack Obama’s accomplishments and the texas state senator or something I can’t remember his name but this guy didn’t know what to say, shame..for shame.. I mean come on, I don’t claim to be a great political strategist (one day hopefully..lol) but I would know exactly what to say if that was done to me and it has been done by my friends quite a few times..(you know who you are..lol) Chris did the same thing to the Governor of Wisconsin James Doyle and he didn’t know what to say either and it’s a pity that these gentlemen don’t have a response to that question when asked because it really does make Obama look inexperienced and fresh..too fresh and this sadly does reflect badly on Obama and it’s quite an unfair characterization of Obama’s overall career.

When Obama wins the nominatin will Hillary support him?

In Election '08, Politics, current news analysis on February 20, 2008 at 3:00 am

barack_and_hillary.jpg

You know what I wonder will Hillary and Bill Clinton support Obama when he’s the nominee..now I don’t think Hillary will be his running mate but I wonder if she will actively campaign for him..will she put aside the bitterness she will obviously feel towards him and those in his campaign and travel around the country talking about how great and wonderful he is?

You know people talk about putting the party first and doing what’s best for the party and the country but we’re all human and after such a tough, tough campaign will she able to put aside her loss and support this upstart guy who took the nomination from her?

And I wonder how Bill Clinton will be received in the black community after all the things he’s said and hinted at in this campaign..this will make for some very, very interesting blogs I can’t wait..lol

I’ve been hearing this a lot about Clinton raiding Obama’s delegates now that, to me, is a whole lot of BS..pleeze…if you’re going with a candidate you’re probably going with a candidate that you believe in that you trust and more importantly you’re like and that you’re loyal too so you’re not going to be that susceptible to covert and overt cloak-and-dagger tactics by the Clinton campaign.

With polls closing just 19 minutes ago they are projecting Obama as the winner..wow!!!  Clinton like I said a couple blogs ago is done for I just want to see how desperate she will become and how much stuff she’s going to sling before she accepts the inevitable..I mean plagerism isn’t all she’s got I’m sure..but it does go to show how desperate she’s become..

You know it always amazes me when he talks about the environment and protecting it..it’s amazing and freaky when it comes from a Republican and you know what that shouldn’t be but I guess that’s why he’s a ‘maverick’..and he gets in a dig at Clinton too by saying HE IS the MOST EXPERIENCED!!!

All in the same sentence I wonder if he’s thinking about going to war with all of them..at the same time?

And he is still attacking Obama about some of his positions on foreign policy including one where Obama says he would be willing to sit down with those who are now considered our ‘enemies’…you know he has to attack the top dog if he doesn’t he wouldn’t be John McCain.

mitt-romney.jpg

I can’t say I didn’t see this coming just didn’t expect it to be so soon..I thought Mitt would let McCain sweat some more bullets over Mike Huckabee before he came over to his side but today at 4pm Mitt Romney is going to endorse McCain and he’s going to throw or ask for his delegates to be given to McCain.

Man I would’ve loved to have been in the room when they talked!

I’m sure Romney isn’t doing this from the goodness of his heart very few politicians do something for nothing and he sure isn’t that kind..fraud man only looks out for himself you can be sure. Some have been speculating that he’s doing this for the VP position but I really can’t see a McCain-Romney ticket that might appease some conservatives but I don’t think ‘real bible belt conservatives’ the ones that McCain needs in order to win would take kindly to him choosing Romney over Huckabee and to me that’s going to be the million dollar question who McCain and Obama choose as their running mates.

Anyway, I think Romney is doing this so he can say in the future, 2012 is just around the corner people, that he put the party first ahead of his own personal dislike of McCain and his liberal tendencies’ and the foresight that he was going to fail (if he doesn’t win the presidency) or succeed in order to garner some points and continue to be in favor with the conservatives and the party establishment and all powerful for doing it, God his fradulent behavior has no end does it?

What will Clinton do now that ‘Obama mania’ has swept the nation?

I must say that after tonight’s results  I really do not see Hillary Clinton winning the democratic nomination.

How can she?

How can she retool her national message of experience to compete with Obama’s universal message of hope?

How can she compete with the droves of people young, old, black, white, men, women, rich, poor, republican and democrat that are flocking to Obama’s campaign? She has women and only barely..

How can she rest her hopes on Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania does she think these states will help her to top Obama? Isn’t this a lot like putting all your eggs in one basket just like the ultimate loser Rudy Giuiliani? She will do just that and who knows she could win all three and ultimately the nomination but how will she do it?

Will she turn to Bill and ask him to step up his attacks on Obama or will she do it herself?

Will she try to best Obama in the debates?

Will she go after Mccain more to show that it’s the two of them while at the same time sidelining Obama?

Will she step up her advertising in the three remaining big states for her Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania?

Is she going to lean even harder on the remaining uncommitted super delegates and force many of them to make a choice before the convention?

And don’t forget about money..if you’re going to want a favor from Hillary come ‘09 you’re going to have to pony up more dough now or you’re never, ever going to hear from the Clintons again.

So, you can bet your bottom dollar that Clinton is going to do all of these things and then some all I can say is the next three weeks are going to be extremely, extremely interesting cause Clinton isn’t going down without a fight and if she and her staff can pull of a convincing win on March 4th in Texas and Ohio after a slew of losses this month it will be one for the record books and I’m sure Hillary is saying to herself right now, ” Too bad bad Karl Rove is a Republican..”

Obama, the working class hero?

In Election '08, Politics, current news analysis on February 13, 2008 at 1:04 am

construction.jpg

Obama can go ahead and chalk another notch into his belt and even the working class people, who were in Hillary land up to a few weeks ago are coming over to him too..

According to MSNBC he’s increasing his support among whites he won among white voters who make less than $50, 000 now that is interesting..that is really, really interesting that was Hillary’s turf up until a few weeks ago and now based on the numbers tonight he could be starting to finally win them over too..

I don’t know how Clinton is going to try to spin this month you see, by the end of the month she would’ve lost 10..ten primaries/caucuses and based on the inroads Obama is making into her base I’m really starting to think it’s all over for her because if  this ‘thing’ does comes down to super delegates how can you side with her when your state and the majority in your party would’ve said they want Obama?

This is why we need universal health care..

In Election '08, Politics, current news analysis, you gotta be kidding me.. on February 13, 2008 at 12:03 am

doctor-examining-patient.jpg

Doctors are being asked to rat out their patients, thus making them ineligible for health insurance, because the INSURANCE companies wants them too..

This is unbelievable, unbelievable you would think with the all the bad press the insurance companies have been getting over the last year including SICKO, Nataline Sarkisyan the 17 year old teen who died after being denied a liver transplant and the possibility of universal health care looming on the horizon, if a democrat is elected to congress, that the insurance companies would try to at least stay out of the limelight but I guess nothing stops them they just keep trying to suck every last drop of blood out of us with or without our consent!

Why is Huckabee still in this thing and what does he want?

In Election '08, Politics, current news analysis on February 12, 2008 at 4:01 am

mike-huckabee-2.jpg

Mike Huckabee is still in this thing and according to him he’s in it until John McCain gets the required delegates1,191 to win the nomination.

Now, I like Mike Huckabee..yes I am a liberal but I’m an honest liberal..lol and if you’re honest you have to admit the guy is quite likable. He doesn’t seem angry. He’s hasn’t played dirty to win his delegates or the nomination and he knows how to convey a message, the message doesn’t resonate with me at all but he knows how to get people to listen and you can’t take that away from him.

But with all his great assets and all his supporters in the South Huckabee has got to know that he’s not going to win the nomination so why is he testing John McCain’s patience like this?

Is he bucking for a VP slot? Maybe he might be a natural choice for McCain to appease the conservative base of the GOP who detest him but will that combination really work I don’t think so but you never know stranger things have happened.

Is he setting himself up for a run in 2012? Now that is also a possibility 2008 will prove to be a very good year for him even if he doesn’t get a VP nod he has gained national name recognition, the allegiance and solidarity of a critical base in his party so if he does run in 2012 he wouldn’t be considered a nobody but a serious contender unlike 2008.

But you know I think the real reason he’s sticking around is because he loves the attention.

Now most politicians probably do but there’s attention and then there’s ATTENTION.

Before Super Tuesday Huckabee had to share the spotlight with Mitt Romney and before that a bunch of other people but now he has it all to himself even though John McCain is the front runner most people are concerned about what Huckabee is doing and what he’s up too instead of focusing on the the front runner John McCain, it’s on Huckabee.

What he’s saying? Where he’s going? Who he’s talking too? etc..etc.. the guy was on NBC’s Meet the Press this past Sunday!

And Huckabee is enjoying every single moment of it he’s laughed and talked his way into being a contender and although ultimately the numbers wouldn’t come out on his side he’s still here and as long as he remains the spotlight will continue to shine on him and his activities and he will milk the cow for all it’s worth just like John Edwards.

Now that’s an entirely different blog…

With Obama on a roll Hillary is pulling out all the stops will it be enough?

In Uncategorized on February 11, 2008 at 9:55 pm

With Obama winning caucuses and primaries in Louisiana, Washington, US Virgin Islands, Maine and Nebraska as well as a Grammy..yes a grammy for best spoken word album this weekend and with another expected sweep of  the Potomac primaries which include the states of Maryland and Virginia and the District of Columbia this Tuesday-Obama has scared the living daylights out of the Clinton campaign.

Before Super Tuesday, Clinton was the inevitable nominee she had nothing to prove all she had to do was give the appearance of a race between her and the other candidates and by February 5th the nomination would be hers.

That has all changed.

Now she has to fight tooth and nail for every single vote and every single delegate against a qualified, charismatic, energetic, well funded opponent with a great message who’s winning primaries, winning voters and delegates and is poised to take the nomination from her.

Hillary and her staff have seen the writing on the wall and they intend to pull out all the stops.

She has responded to the gas slowly running out of the Clinton campaign machine by contributing five million dollars of  her own to the campaign not just because she needed it but to show prospective donors that she has faith in her ability to win so they can go ahead and donate too, she’s reorganized her top campaign staff by replacing Patti Solis Doyle with her former White House chief of staff Maggie Williams and last but not least she’s reinventing her message well kinda of she’s no longer portraying herself as the inevitable candidates although she is still running on the same issues and same agenda she’s now the underdog against Obama well that’s what her hubby says..I don’t know how that happened but she’s now the one who has to come from behind to win..OMG..LOL..

I don’t know if her top staff thinks this will be enough for her to win the nomination and I’m sure they’ve got plenty of tricks up their sleeves but they’ve got to try everything between now and the Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania primaries in March and this is part of their strategy since February is going to be filled with a whole bunch of loses.

You know if they aren’t careful they are going to be running on an empty tank before the end of the month while Obama will be coasting along on cruise control.

mitt-romney-is-two-faced.jpg

Two faced, fraud man Mitt Romney is gone..can you give me a hell yeah..HELL YEAH!!!

I know, I know he’s not gone forever but I’m still going to relish the fact that he spent 35 million and got nothing, except maybe name recognition for that sum.. 35 million of his own money and HE GOT NOTHING!!! LOL>>LOL>>

You know I don’t normally relish in a person’s failure because I believe that failure is relative and even when it’s clearly defined as such you can still garner enormous quantities of valuable information from your mistakes.

However Mitt Romney’s case is different I don’t begrudge him his faith, his money or even his issues. I am who I am and he’s who he is in that respect but I do not or cannot respect any individual who changes his mind about a particular issue and than wants to crucify others for believing what he once believed, to me and millions of others obviously that’s the height of hypocrisy and I also question his sincerity on the issues of particular importance to the GOP.

It seems he ‘converted’ to their way of thinking at just the right time in order to start running for president and it based on his past history it seems that Mitt Romney always says what he thinks people want to hear instead of what he truly believes.

Mike Huckabee and John Mccain for all my disagreements with them on the issues are true to themselves and their country first and to their party second. Romney never seems to be true to anything not even himself.

And that is why he failed because he could never convey an effective message because he had none and the one that he did have his economic ‘genius’ was packaged in a way that instead of rallying people actually did quite the opposite it turned them off..

Whatever possessed Mitt Romney this election cycle is sure to resurface sometime in the near future, probably in 2012 but I do hope that he’s learned a lesson and that when we do see him again we see an entirely different man and not the two faced hypocrite who can’t get along with his teammates that we’ve all grown to hate this election cycle.

As for Clinton loaning her campaign 5 million dollars all I have to say is..well, well, well.. if things are that bad for her now imagine what they are going to be like in a few weeks after a series of Obama wins.

Ain’t it funny how one year can make such a BIG difference? Last year she raising millions in a few hours now she has to loan herself money…I have to say the writing, although still quite a bit vague may suddenly be appearing on the wall..

Super Tuesday was the first day of the Obama phenemenon…

Today we talk about the the Bradley effect when discussing African American candidates in the future we will be talking about the Obama phenomenon when discussing candidates of any race or gender who defy expectations and generate momentum in non traditional areas!

February 5th was indeed a historical day.

Now, Obama did not take Hillary Clinton down (he got 841 and she got about 837) but with his wins and delegate splits he was saying to her ”I’m not going anywhere!” and that this race is going down to the wire.

But what is the real story? To me, it’s WHERE Obama won and with WHOM.

He won in Colorado, Utah, Missouri, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota and North Dakota! He won in NORTH DAKOTA!!!

Now, ten years ago if you told me that there would be a black presidential candidate in my lifetime winning primaries and caucuses in these states I would have laughed and vehemenetly disagreed with you while secretly concealing in my heart the desire and hope of it being true.

Today Obama won these states and he closed the gap between him and Hillary when it comes to white voters and women. Obama has shown that Hillary does not have a monopoly over these demographic groups and that his message is making in roads with these voters like it should.

As a man should not be ‘judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character’ and today we saw yet another step in the direction of that finally being realised.

Neither candidate has a clear advantage but if Obama fails to get the nomination the effect of this day will still resonate with potential non-traditional political candidates because Obama has shown how it can be done and more importantly than that we are starting to see a generational shift where race and gender are viewed quite differently.

This election will be not be determined by that generation exclusively but it certainly wouldn’t be decided without them.

You see, I know that Obama is the candidate of choice for my generation however if he fails to become the nominee it will be due to OUR work, OUR perserverence and OUR selection of his opponent and from this time onward we, today’s youth vote will finally be given our due recognition.

And with Obama’s victories today still fresh in the minds of all let it be known that, if he wins the nomination and goes on to become the president of the United States, that we the members of  Generation X  and  Generation Y, those raised on Sesame Street and Nintendo, those who have never experienced life without computers, punk rock or rap music have shown that we are tuned in and that we have no intention whatsoever of tuning out and we will fight up until our last breath to fully realize the dreams of our parents and grandparents and thus return this country to the heights of greatness it so rightly deserves!

Huckabee and Mccain are double teaming Romney. Huckabee is hitting him hard in the South by taking away his supporters with wins in Alabama, Arkansas and West Virginia while Mccain has been piling up states in the the North East and the Mid West including New York, Connecticut, Illinois, Delaware and New Jersey.

Romney is getting it both ways and I love it….you know I’m not a Republican supporter but I can’t stand Romney!!

He’s FAKE>>FAKE>>FAKE and I can’t stand that I respect any individual who says this is who I am deal with it and Romney hasn’t and from my research he has never, ever done that he blows wherever the wind blows and says whatever needs to be said in order to win while Mccain or even Huckabee for that matter have never tried to have it both ways..plus he’s played nasty with his teammates and I don’t respect that from any individual! Everytime I think about this I feel sick to my stomach.

How did this happen?

How can we consume so much and yet give so little?

How can we ask so much of others yet ask nothing of our ourselves?

In a world where children are eating mud to survive..on this day, on this day February 3rd 2008 I vow to do more. More than just talk..more than just give the occasional charitable donation, more than just sitting on my computer blogging about the troubles of the world..I WILL DO SOMETHING, someway, somehow..I still don’t know what I’m going to do but something has got to change..if not for the majority, at least, at the very least for a few..

The good old days are back but for how long? Clinton and Obama played nice tonight at the CNN Presidential Debate in California

In Election '08, Politics, current news analysis on February 1, 2008 at 3:38 am

BFF? Yeah Right..lol

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama played nice tonight at the CNN Presidential Debate at the Kodak Theatre in California.

They were no real barbs, cheap shots or low blows.

Instead we saw an intense discussion on their positions from health care to Iraq and for the first time since this process begun we could hear Obama and Clinton articulate their visions and their policies without being hindered excessively by time limits.

This was enjoyable and informative even for me a political junkie!

Obama and Clinton both remained above the fray with neither of them willing to venture into the gutter. Clinton and Obama both realised there was too much to lose and a whole lot to gain (including John Edwards endorsement, his former supporters and a couple million undecided voters votes on Monday) if they could just appear to get along for a couple of hours.

From the very beginning Obama made every effort to show that he and Clinton were on good terms and to quell those comments once and for all that he appears ’ungracious’ after it looked like he appeared to have snubbed Senator Clinton at President Bush’s State of the Union address on Tuesday. He spoke to her briefly at the beginning, he pulled out her chair, he said that he agreed with her on many things and he even pointed out that she would be on his VP short list but you know what that didn’t fool me at all.

Obama and Clinton are not friends and they don’t like each other anymore but that does not mean that they should display their mutual dislike for each other in public or take cheap shots at each other’s character, race or gender.

And tonight for the first time in months I and millions of others were reminded of what we first saw in both of them. Professionalism, candor, charisma, grace and intelligence. I saw tonight the two democratic presidential candidates that I once admired and would’ve been happy to support on a mutual ticket.

Watching them smile and talk passionately about restoring America’s image abroad, getting universal health care for all and about bringing home our troops reminded me of those evenings when I would agonise over whom to support Obama or Clinton but the past is the past right?

I’m no longer willing to ‘actively’ support a Clinton nomination.

Some mistakes must first be corrected by admitting an error and apologising.  And I’m sure neither Bill or Hillary Clinton will be saying anytime soon that they were wrong for utilising ‘racial politics’ in trying to obtain the nomination. Hillary still can’t admit she was wrong in voting for the Iraq war!

However, tonight for a few brief moments dignity was restored to the Democratic party let’s see how long it lasts.

Clinton, Obama; Obama, Clinton ticket..

Obama says that it’s premature and presumptious to assume what the tickets could be..says what he would look for in a vice president or a cabinet member I want them to understnad that they are working for the American people.

And he says that Hillary would be on anybody’s short list..but it didn’t convince me at all that he would consider her as a vp if he won..

And Hillary said something or the other…

Hillary, naive? Never!!!

Iraq and national security…Obama reasoned that he would be the strongest nominee on the issue of National Security because he will always be able to say that he was opposed to the war from the beginning!

Hillary is still not saying that her vote was wrong. She still says that she voted for the inspectors to go back in and not war and that she and others were talking to a brick wall (President Bush) when they were calling for diplomacy. See..this is what I can’t stand about many people including politicians..-ADMIT WHEN YOU’RE WRONG-it doesn’t make you weak or even give the appearance of weakness instead it makes you more human and in my opinion wiser and stronger than most that you’re able to admit a mistake and the next time you’ll be able to see it coming and avoid..it…

Listen to Wolf..saying that Hillary may have been niave in trusting George Bush..lol..

Hillary niave never…she was born smart and worldly! Hmph..

She said she made a reasoned judge and that unfortunately the person who was responsible for executing it was not…

I’m sorry Hillary that will not cut it..

Obama..says that Hillary is claiming that she’s has the experience for day one..Obama says he has the judgement to be right from DAY one..GOOD ONE..Obama..

Most movie stars are democrats…

Man, in every single CNN audience shot..I’m either seeing a movie star, a pretty face or a woman’s chest  ( didn’t you see that..a camera was supposed to be focussed on a Hillary pin but when the camera pulled back it was clearly a shot of woman’s chest) or somebody that I’m supposed to know..lol

I’ve seen more audience shots in this debate than any other..I wonder why?

Hillary Clinton an agent of change only when it’s convenient…

Hillary says nobody has an advantage..please!!!! Bill was a clear advantage until more recently, and she wants to be judged on her own merit only when it’s necessary and vital and other times she wants to be judged as Bill Clinton’s wife. You can’t have it both ways. Or can you?

Another great one liner from Hillary before CNN went to break…

“It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and it might take another Clinton to clean up after the second Bush!!!” Good line, no i’ll be fair..GREAT LINE!!!

Immigrants are NOT responsible for the low wages, job loss in the African American community..

And I’m glad to hear Obama say that as well but he thinks that the job loss and low wages are due to economic forces and the resulting consequences of the economic downturn that have not been adequately dealt with by the government.

Hillary blames the job loss on business people who exploit illegal and legal immigrants and that is what has forced a lot of jobs out of the African American community..hmm..not across the board but definitely in specific states..

Hillary wants comprehensive immigration reform….another great one liner..”We need to solve this problem not exacerbate it..”

She doesn’t think that illegal immigrants should get a driver’s license because she thinks it put them at risk

Ouch..Obama took the first dig at Hillary by saying that she’s finally took a position on the issue and Hillary got a little annoyed..

And Hillary hit back by saying that Obama wasn’t able to answer the issue either…lol..

Look at the two of them trying to play nice..lol…

Tax them! Tax them!

In Uncategorized on February 1, 2008 at 1:39 am

You know after listening to them talk about their healthcare plans I really don’t see any significant difference between the two..

Tax increases on wealthy people..I’m glad to hear that the democrats aren’t shying away from saying that somebody is gotta pay for it..and it should be those who can afford to pay more..the wealthy..like all those in the Kodak theatre..lol

Universal health care the difference between Obama and Hillary..

Obama’s health care plan.. says that they are 15 million that don’t want health care.. I don’t believe that but he says that he will provide incentives to those out there to encourage them to buy it and require parents to buy insurance for their kids..

Hillary health care plan….she will open to the federal health care to plan to everyone..she will provide subsidies and cap premiums to make it affordable to everyone..

Once again John Edwards is mentioned..

Hmm..Obama wants to lower premiums that is critical because if you can’t afford the one you currently have, how will you able to afford the government’s? He’s actually going to invest in preventative care, just like the Europeans and most health care systems around the world including many in the so called developing world…

You know, I think a combination of these two plans would be the most successful, because if you mandate people many will resist even if it’s in their best interests..

And we’ll be able to watch (ignore..lol) all these deliberations on CSPAN

John Edwards the popular kid, for the moment..

In Uncategorized on February 1, 2008 at 1:12 am

Now Hillary mentions John Edwards, when he was in the limelight you couldn’t get anyone to talk about him and now that he’s gone everybody is talking about him….man they really want his endorsement bad..don’t they?

The only power John Edwards has ever had since this process began..you know i’m right..lol..

Obama the gentleman, the intellectual, the president..

In Uncategorized on February 1, 2008 at 1:09 am

Obama pulled out Hillary’s chair..nice..I love a guy who does that..Has he ever done that before what a gentleman?

And of course he had to mention John Edwards..

He’s says he’s always been friends with Hillary and that they will remain friends..man with friends like that who needs enemies right?

Hillary and Obama one on one..finally!!!

I hope to God that neither holds back…man that place is packed..love it..

Listen to Wolf talk about race and gender I thought that neither of them wanted to inject race or gender into this?

And look at Obama leaning over to Hillary what did he tell her? mmmm…
