Chris Matthews and Obama’s accomplishments….

You know I must admit that Barack Obama’s list of accomplishments in the US senate isn’t that long but what I will ask is how could it be? He’s only been there what three years while Hillary has been there for 8 years! So of course her list of accomplishments would be much longer than Obama’s especially in a place like the US Senate where it’s all about seniority, contacts and getting on the right committees and sub committees which again is based on seniority and contacts and then remember Obama has spent two out of three of those years in a Republican controlled Senate.

I watched Chris Matthews, tonight on MSNBC once again put an Obama supporter/surrogate on the spot when it comes to listing Barack Obama’s accomplishments and the texas state senator or something I can’t remember his name but this guy didn’t know what to say, shame..for shame.. I mean come on, I don’t claim to be a great political strategist (one day hopefully..lol) but I would know exactly what to say if that was done to me and it has been done by my friends quite a few times..(you know who you are..lol) Chris did the same thing to the Governor of Wisconsin James Doyle and he didn’t know what to say either and it’s a pity that these gentlemen don’t have a response to that question when asked because it really does make Obama look inexperienced and fresh..too fresh and this sadly does reflect badly on Obama and it’s quite an unfair characterization of Obama’s overall career.

  1. Take a look at this site http://mediamatters.org/items/200802190002

It is evident that Chris is out to get Obama

Isnt his job as a media reporter to be unbiased?

    latina for barack

  2. Agreed. And to be honest, if you remove all the Namings of Post Offices (and other buildings), and remove all the recommendations for awards or commendations, Obama’s list of accomplishments in the Senate do more than rival Clinton’s. They completely out-shine hers. Ok, so she got 2 laws passed that helped victims of 9/11. She’s the New York Senator.

  3. Ya I feel the same what u had pot it down

  4. Great post. I just covered my eyes when Chris Matthews skewered another Obama surrogate. My thought immediately was ‘Who in the hell prepped this guy for the interview?’ The campaign knew that Matthews had put Doyle on the spot with the same type of question…did they not think he would do it again? I say…shame on the campaign staffer who set this one up.

Unfortunately you are right, even though I know that Obama has many achievements, the impression that most who don’t know about Barack’s history of public service will walk away with is: ‘Wow, maybe this guy really doesn’t have much experience.’

Sad…..very sad. I just hope that the smear job on Michelle Obama’s comments are not the talking point of the MSM and the blogs when I wake up in the morning!

  5. Then that is the point. Obama needs more time in the Senate. The presidency is no place for amateurs.

  6. No…those sad answers and replies regarding Senator Obama’s accomplishments doesn’t make him look inexperienced, But rather it makes those said gentlemen look rather stupid.

If anyone wants to say, ‘their’ lack of knowledge about Presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama, is a direct reflection of his ability, accomplishes and record then those are people, that are grasping at straws.

In that case, let’s blame Obama for the children who are failing in school, can’t read etc.

Obama’s record can be found very easily. Are they listening to him speak debate? Are they reading anything outside of a fiction novel or a comic book?

Senator Obama can’t be held accountable nor lodged with inexperience, because elected officials are absent of knowledge, which by definition is termed ignorance.

People really need to see side by side Obama vs Hillary accomplishes. He blows her out – it’s unbelievable.

Like the bumper stickers are reading, “If you would rather die, than see a Black President – Now, might be a good time.”

Blessings, Unapologetic Black Liberal – (way cool!)

  7. BARACK OBAMA’S TOP TEN ACCOMPLISHMENTS

ONE – TEN YEARS OF SENATORIAL EXPERIENCE – Senator Obama has ten years
    of
senate experience: Eight years in Springfield, and two years in
    Washington,
D.C. He has a longer record in elected office than Hillary Clinton.
    For
those who denounce that being a Senator as a non-accomplishment, need a
reality check. 15 presidents were senators – they were: James Monroe,
    John
Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, William Henry Harrison,
    John
Tyler, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Benjamin
    Harrison,
Warren G. Harding, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson
    and
    Richard M. Nixon

TWO – CHAIRMAN OF THE SENATE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE -
    Named
Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee in January
    2003
(2003-2004). During those two years, he sponsored 780 bills, and 280 of
    those were signed into law.

THREE – “COBURN – OBAMA TRANSPARENCY ACT” – The Transparency Act
    created
    a
website managed by Office of Management and Budget, for ensuring
transparency of funds allocated to government agencies. It tracks all
federal spending, and allows Google-type searches based on agency,
    types
    of
funding, etc. This law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a
    measure
    to
rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and
    see
how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent.

FOUR – OBAMA-LUGAR BILL – The Lugar-Obama Bill will help Keep Weapons
    Out of
Terrorists’ Hands. The Bipartisan Effort Focuses on Antiaircraft
    Missiles,
Stolen WMDs and Conventional Weapons used in Improvised Roadside Bomb.
    This
bill was passed on May 23, 2006. The Lugar-Obama bill will help the US
    and
other nations find and eliminate conventional weapons that have been
    used
against our own soldiers in Iraq and sought by terrorists all over the
world. Lugar-Obama would expand the detection and interdiction of
    weapons
    and materials of mass destruction

FIVE – LED EXPANSION OF CHILD HEALTH CARE – Barack Obama pushed through
    a
bill that expanded healthcare to an addition 20,000 Illinois children
    as
    a
state senator. While a state senator, he also lead welfare reform (a
bipartisan bill passed in Republican controlled senate, generating
    major
headlines); earned income tax credit (tax relief for working poor
    families);
and death penalty reform. (He supports the death penalty in
    exceptional
circumstances, but wanted all interrogations to be videotaped.
    Initially
viewed as a highly controversial proposal, Senator Obama listened to
    all
sides of the debate, incorporated ideas from many individuals, and the
result was a bill that passed the Senate 58-0, and was signed into law
    by a
governor who originally opposed Senator Obama’s bill.)

SIX – TWO TIME BEST SELLING AUTHOR – Obama has written two bestselling
books. The first, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and
    Inheritance,
was published before he first ran for public office. In it he recalls
    his
childhood in Honolulu and Jakarta, college years in Los Angeles and New
    York
City, and his employment as a community organizer in Chicago in the
    1980s.
His second book, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the
    American
Dream, was published in October 2006, three weeks before the 2006
    midterm
election. It was an immediate bestseller and rose to the top of the New
    York
Times Best Seller list by early November 2006

SEVEN – CONSTITUTIONAL LAW PROFESSOR – He was a lecturer of
    constitutional
law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1993 until his
    election
    to
    the U.S. Senate in 2004.

EIGHT – PRESIDENT OF HARVARD LAW REVIEW – he was elected President of
Harvard Law Review: his grades (graduating magna cum laude); his
    writing
ability; and his friendships with many of the conservatives on the Law
Review who felt he would always consider their opinions.

NINE – OPPOSITION TO THE IRAQ WAR – The clearest example of Senator
    Obama’s
political courage, was his vocal opposition to war in Iraq in 2002. At
    the
time, many Democrats with national ambition were supporting George W
    Bush’s
posture on Iraq. He showed exceptional judgement and character,
    choosing
    the
    unpopular position at the time.

TEN – RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL POLITICAL CAMPAIGN – As of 2/20/2008, Obama
    and
his staff has run a successful, organized campaign that has captured
    nearly
half of all States at 24, compared to 11 for Hillary Clinton. He has
    1141
total pledge delegates to Hillary Clinton’s 1003.

  8. At least 2 of these “accomplishments” are fantasies. Obama was NOT a professor of law, as he claimed, but only a lecturer. That’s like saying you were the surgeon when you were actually the intern. If Sen. Clinton had made a lie like that all of you bloggers and the media would be ALL over it–there’d be a video of clips showing her say over and over “I was a law professor…law professor…was a law professor…I was…I was…” on YouTube; Christopher Hitchens would say that she had actually murdered thousands of law professors; Anderson Cooper would have a panel of Obama surrogates talking about how this lie is going to have to make her step out of the election. But Obama lies, and you all shrug.
Second fantasy: His record against the war in Iraq. Yes, he started out denouncing the war (before he got into the U.S. Senate) but he has flip-flopped on this issue in the years after that. Please stop saying he was against the war from day one.
Give us a break! We know how to read!
p.s. Oily Obama has told other lies too. Pay attention!

  9. By the way, what does being a lecturer, working on the Harvard Law Review, and having 2 bestsellers have to do with becoming president? Does that mean Lemony Snicket and John Grisham have a good shot too?
