We definitely can’t play that game..one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn’t belong, can we?
Why oh why are black men still allowing themselves to be photographed and portrayed like this?
Why?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the fact that they are wealthy, black guys out there, like Lebron James who would allow themselves to be depicted like this without any remorse is sad and disgusting.
And this is another reason why I’m rooting for Obama. Because I’m sick and tired of the portrayal of blacks in the media.
And when I say media I’m including black media in there as well (and if you have any doubts about how we portray ourselves check out BET one of these afternoons)..we’re either over-sexualized nymphomaniacs, dumb baboons or violent, unemployed welfare recipients and if Barack becomes president the image of black men in the media will slowly start to change and at least start to become more reflective of the black men and women I know and see everyday and dare I say the black people most of us interact with instead of these caricatures of a people we’ve become so used to seeing in the media.
And for those of you who will claim that you can’t see any similiarities among the posters…I’m sorry to say this but you’re clearly blind..

I feel you brother. I for one am really sick and tired of brothers acting like white woman are their trophy… I know it’s another topic but I felt compelled to say it.
Brothaz get a little money and don’t know how to act. Can someone explain this to me?
It is definitely sad that Lebron felt like he needed to even be on the cover of Vogue, let alone with this woman, whoever she is.
While I am not surprised that some white photographer thinks that this is creative & artistic, I’m shocked that Lebron has no one in his life that didn’t take him aside & have a conversation with him about how he is part of the problem by posing on the cover of this already lily white publication as a savage, with this white woman that makes money on her looks, not talent.
Well, geesle pete - now that I’ve seen it like this. I had to click the View off when that white and I will remain kind Hasselbeck basically said Blks needed to get a grip on it and We needed to give her the manual on racism.
I really wanted to give her the manual on ‘How to eat on a chicken bone - choke - then die- I’m sorry but I hate her so you pray 4 me.
I will Vicki..I will Vicki..lol
Like Cinamon, I’m suprised and shocked that Lebron didn’t have anyone close enough to him to get him these photo’s, have a conversation, or educate him on the past portrayals of Blacks in the media. Perhaps this comes as a result of too much money and only having a few Blacks around you; or maybe this is a result of going straight to the NBA from high school and never being exposed to these truths in college. Very few high schools, let alone colleges, are teaching true history from our perspective. This is why we need more people of color teaching in classrooms! Please hear me and spend the word!!!
