Is the GOP looking for President Reagan to save them?

ronald reagan

According to Michael Steele, GOP Chairman, Republicans are done ‘looking in the rearview mirror’.

But in his speech yesterday all he did was look back.

From his comments about Reagan to the fact that he failed to offer no new policy positions on any current issue all Steele did was remind millions of Americans why they aren’t Republican anymore.

Steele tried his very best to convince us that there is a new GOP we just haven’t seen it yet, ” Our comeback is well underway out in the states, I can assure you of that..the folks inside the beltway don’t know it yet but those of you who toil in the vineyards, spending time in communities, in diners, barber shops, and coffee shops where real every day people can be found…you know it is real.”

Steele obviously sees things that we don’t.

It has become quite obvious that the only reason Michael Steele got the RNC Chair is because he’s a black guy. And unfortunately, many GOP leaders wrongly believe the only way to effectively criticize President Obama is to have another black guy do it. That’s the only conclusion I can come too because Michael Steele has nothing else going for him.

He can barely rally the GOP base. He doesn’t have the support of the GOP leadership (what leadership there is) and he’s an ineffective leader and communicator and his money raising skills are mediocre at best.

So why is he still there?

Could this be the reason why millions are abandoning the GOP?

The GOP seems to be perpetually stuck in the past on everything and instead of moving forward Republican leaders are constantly looking over their shoulders as if they are hoping President Regan will ride in on his white horse and save them from themselves and those bad Democrats!

The GOP must STOP LIVING in the past and STOP DIRECTING their message to those who want to return TO THE PAST because if they aren’t careful they will become a PARTY OF THE PAST!

But who am I to offer any advice? I’m just a no good liberal right? LOL

And the new Chairman of the Republican National Committee is..

Michael Steele, former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland or  Katon Dawson  Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. Since they are the two remaining candidates in the race for Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Sorry, to tease you like that..lol.

Anyway, I think Michael Steele has this thing..but we’ll have to wait and see. They’ve adjourned for 15 minutes so we’ll probably know in the next hour.

Can you imagine the two leading faces of the major political parties in America could  be black?

Sweet!

Times are definitely changing.

Israel calls the shots in the final days of Bush administration?

olmert-and-rice

According to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert he forced the Bush administration to sit out a vote in the UN Security Council.

According to Olmert he called Bush and told Bush to reign in Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Now this could be a whole lot of bs from Olmert but the fact that he’s  willing to say this on the record shows that he has no fear of repercussions from the incoming administration and it really displays how powerless this Secretary of State has been in advancing peace between Israel and the Palestinians.  And in effect it reinforces the opinion of many out there that Rice has presided over a number of foreign policy failures/blunders.

Somehow, I don’t think the incoming Secretary of State , Hillary Clinton, will be as ineffective as  her predecessor.

MSNBC needs black political commentators with their own shows

I watch MSNBC all day long seriously, I have no life..lol. And although I’ve noticed this before only recently has it started to bother me that they have lots of black MSNBC analysts but no black commentators with their own show on this station.

Why not?

They don’t even have to look too far. I think either Michelle Bernard or Harold Ford Jr should be considered for their own shows. Bernard and Ford regularly appear on MSNBC shows and segments and either individual would bring a unique  perspective to the news of the day. Maybe they could do a show together?  A black conservative and moderate democrat similar perspectives on certain issues but vastly differently ideologies on the biggest ones. Now that would be interesting.

Come on if Tucker Carlon could get his own show why can’t Michelle Bernard?

What do you think?

Obama, the ‘white talking’ black guy..

According to Ralph Nader, consumer advocate and presidential candidate (and yes he’s running this time too..lol) thinks that Obama is talking white in order to appease or appeal to ‘white guilt’ (sic)..

You know I find this whole phenomenon of ‘talking white’ so hilarious that one, I can’t believe I’m even writing about it and two, I can’t believe that Ralph Nader, an intelligent man by most estimates, would even use that terminology in a sentence!

However, according to Nader, ’talking white’ means:

” He wants to show that he is not a threatening … another politically threatening African-American politician..he wants to appeal to white guilt. You appeal to white guilt not by coming on as black is beautiful, black is powerful. Basically he’s coming on as someone who is not going to threaten the white power structure, whether it’s corporate or whether it’s simply oligarchic. And they love it. Whites just eat it up.”

You know, if I had Nader’s ear, I would tell him this.. “Bro, that’s not talking white, that’s talking smart..,” LOL..

Clinton supporters should ‘get over it’..

If they want to win back the White House come November.

Apparently Obama during a meeting with the Black Congressional Caucus made this statement in reference to the ‘healing’ that still needs to be done by many Clinton supporters,

I need to make a decision in the next few months as to how I manage that since I’m running against John McCain, which takes a lot of time. If women take a moment to realize that on every issue important to women, John McCain is not in their corner, that would help them get over it.

Apparently, Rep Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, an ardent Clinton supporter took offense to the last three words, ‘get over it’ and she told Obama as much.

However, though I’m sure Obama meant no offense I must say that I do believe that those Clinton supporters who are still harbouring ill feelings towards Obama should ‘get over it’. Clinton lost, he won but WE all want to win come November and we can’t do that if they don’t and wouldn’t get over the primary results.

We can’t win in November with a divided party and in this election unlike many others in the past, every single vote and I mean EVERY single vote will matter. This election the choice couldn’t be more simple.

Do you want another eight years of disaster or eight years of prosperity?

Believe me, I can understand how many of her supporters feel in some of my earlier posts I was leaning towards not supporting Clinton or the Democrats if SHE won but I finally came to the conclusion that I want what’s best for America and regardless of the outcome between the two, Obama and Clinton, voting for John McCain was not an option!

And I hope that Clinton’s supporters realize that before it’s too late.

Besides, like my mom always said to me when I lost a race (I did athletics in high school..), ” There’s always next time…”
