Herman Cain new GOP frontrunner

Ok, maybe that headline may a bit of a stretch but it’s not that far fetched.

At Tuesday night’s GOP Presidential debate, held at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, almost everybody had something to say to Cain. From moderator Charlie Rose fielding the first question of the night to Herman Cain to the other presidential candidate’s seeming obsession with Cain’s 9-9-9 economic plan.

Most of the debate was centered around Cain’s 9-9-9 economic plan, with many of the candidates expressing their doubts about whether or not it could be successful and outright attacking it from all sides. Cain’s plan would dismantle the current tax system and establish a 9 percent corporate tax, 9 percent income tax and a new 9 percent national sales tax.

Cain, defended his plan consistently and  even after a statement by Governor Jon Huntsman who said he thought Cain’s plan referred to a ‘price of pizza’, Cain said his plan, ” Will pass and it is not the price of pizza, because it has been well-studied and well-developed. It starts with, unlike your proposals, throwing out the current tax code.”

Herman Cain did nothing but bolster his campaign tonight.

Governor Rick Perry is done. He did not perform. He looked lost and confused on several occasions and at one time he even appeared to be rolling his eyes at a statement made by Governor Jon Huntsman. Perry’s campaign has gone from white hot to code blue in a matter of weeks and I attribute it all to his debate performances. He just can’t seemingly articulate his ideas or attack his opponents in a coherent and articulate fashion for any audience and this does not inspire confidence in the GOP base and from donors.

Governor Romney was solid. He was prepared as usual, showed up did his job and made sure to look everybody in the eye (even though I have yet to figure out anything about this guy other than the fact that he wants to president, really, really, really badly)  when they spoke and he didn’t make and critical mistakes. As they say slow and steady wins the race.

And all the other candidates, they showed up, were asked a couple of questions by the moderators because the moderators had too, just to be politie, but again if you walk away with anything from this debate it’s this-Rick Perry’s campaign is over. Herman Cain’s campaign and status is on the rise and Mitt Romney is still solid and appears to know what he’s talking about.

Bring on the next one!

Is the GOP looking for President Reagan to save them?

ronald reagan

According to Michael Steele, GOP Chairman, Republicans are done ‘looking in the rearview mirror’.

But in his speech yesterday all he did was look back.

From his comments about Reagan to the fact that he failed to offer no new policy positions on any current issue all Steele did was remind millions of Americans why they aren’t Republican anymore.

Steele tried his very best to convince us that there is a new GOP we just haven’t seen it yet, ” Our comeback is well underway out in the states, I can assure you of that..the folks inside the beltway don’t know it yet but those of you who toil in the vineyards, spending time in communities, in diners, barber shops, and coffee shops where real every day people can be found…you know it is real.”

Steele obviously sees things that we don’t.

It has become quite obvious that the only reason Michael Steele got the RNC Chair is because he’s a black guy. And unfortunately, many GOP leaders wrongly believe the only way to effectively criticize President Obama is to have another black guy do it. That’s the only conclusion I can come too because Michael Steele has nothing else going for him.

He can barely rally the GOP base. He doesn’t have the support of the GOP leadership (what leadership there is) and he’s an ineffective leader and communicator and his money raising skills are mediocre at best.

So why is he still there?

Could this be the reason why millions are abandoning the GOP?

The GOP seems to be perpetually stuck in the past on everything and instead of moving forward Republican leaders are constantly looking over their shoulders as if they are hoping President Regan will ride in on his white horse and save them from themselves and those bad Democrats!

The GOP must STOP LIVING in the past and STOP DIRECTING their message to those who want to return TO THE PAST because if they aren’t careful they will become a PARTY OF THE PAST!

But who am I to offer any advice? I’m just a no good liberal right? LOL

John Mccain likes black people..or does he?

While he might not receive a big hug at the very least he gets a fist bump for showing up and talking to NAACP leaders, ( President Bush only showed up once in the past eight years) and activists at the annual NAACP convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Now, I don’t think this appearance was all about the black vote. I am quite sure Mccain had ulterior motives (trying to enhance his appeal to moderate republicans and democrats) but hey all politicians have motives right but like they say appearances matter and this was a good one for Mccain.

He still needs loads of work on his speech delivery though..he sounds and looks too stiff and very, very uncomfortable this is an area he needs to work on if he doesn’t want to lose all the debates to Obama.

Condoleezza Rice as John Mccain’s VP?

great-together.jpg

You gotta be kidding me right?

I’ve heard Ms. Rice’s name mentioned a few times as a possible running mate for John McCain but I always thought it was just pundits talking bs..(you know kinda like Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel actually believing that they could be president..lol..just kidding in my world Paul and Kucinich would both have terms) but I started hearing the rumblings again and I can’t believe that people are actually thinking that Rice would be on John Mccain’s short list.

This is amazing, I’m starting to wonder if some people in the media aren’t just bandying  her name around because she’s one of only a few nationally recognizable black Republicans? COME ON!!

Listen, people for one thing she’s already said no and she’s not even doing the smiling, maybe thing..she really means it and just because there is qualified, black person running on the democratic side doesn’t mean that you have to have a qualified black person running on the republican side to even things out!

You might think we (black people) need for that to happen but believe me we don’t unless you guys are the ones secretly needing FOR THAT to happen (hmm..i wonder) but believe me in time the Republicans will have a qualified black candidate up there running for president (only God knows when..but it will happen..lol) they might have missed the boat with Colin Powell a few years ago but I’m sure there will be other chances to talk about the black, republican guy/gal running for president 2008 just isn’t that time so stop trying to make it don’t we have enough drama as it is? LOL
