And the award for jackass of the year goes too..Kanye West

2009 jackass of the year

Being candid doesn’t just apply to talk show hosts and average citizens.

The beloved characteristic can also apply to Presidents as well. And yes, I’ll agree it is a bit surprising when politicians are frank with us but I have to admit that some of them are actually capable of telling the truth-at times.

President Obama’s comment about West’s behavior was off the record but when you act like a jackass (include Serena Williams here too) you should be called out swiftly and without regard to race, sex, age, national origin, religion or culture and if a president wants to express his/her outrage with a person’s behavior he/she should be able too as well.

Thankfully President Obama had the guts to say what we’ve all been collectively expressing for the past few days and although it’s not the politest term in the world describing Kanye West as a  ’jackass’,  is the one word he can get away with calling him out loud!

I could think of quite a few other words to describe the big mouth, artist can’t you?

Imus doesn’t matter anymore..I think…

So Imus has made another stupid remark that he claims wasn’t really stupid but actually sarcastic.

And that he was actually making a comment on the racial profiling of black athletes.

First of all if you believe that I’m pretty sure you must believe in the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny as well right? LOL

But to tell you the truth, I don’t care what Imus has to say anymore. As for Adam Jones..(he’s another story altogether) he might owe him an apology but if he was just making a political commentary on race what does he have to apologize for? LOL..Boy he’s between a rock and a hard place again isn’t he?

Anyway, you see, I really do believe his ‘real’ platform was taken away from him and since he’s lost that major voice peice he has become almost as irrelevant in my world as Bill O’Reilly!

You see, I have more important topics and issues to worry and talk about i.e the first black presidential candidacy. To me, that’s waaaaaaaaay more important than Imus and his rantings.

We’re on the verge of having our first black president and our first black first lady and I have watched as community upon community across this nation has embraced that prospect with open arms and that shows me that things are indeed getting better when it comes to race relations in this country.

And although we’re still a long way of from a utopia (hell I’m still told, albeit occassionaly “you’re, different, you’re not like other black people..” lol) I can admit that people that think and behave like Imus in regards to race and gender (and this includes the black ones too) are slowly going the way of the dinosaurs.

And I say it couldn’t come sooner!

Obama’s dirt of your shoulders…

After being ‘beat down’ by Hillary and ABC on Wednesday night Obama got up on Thursday and brushed his shoulder’s off.

I saw nothing wrong with the questions the moderators asked the issues and points they raised are legitimate concerns for many people and although they may seem to be a bit ‘tabloidesque’  to some journalists have the right to ask them and Obama should have been more prepared to address them instead he did seem like a deer got in headlights and that is unacceptable.

Obama should’ve known that the Rev. Wright issue, the San Francisco comments etc, etc would have come up and the fact that he appeared to have been caught off guard is something that dare not be repeated come October and November during the presidential debates.

However, in the end for all those critical of Obama’s actions since then all I have to say is that Obama by brushing his shoulders off not only endeared himself to his youth supporters but also I’m willing to bet got a few thousand more votes plus for once a politician looked cool and natural doing something youthful unlike John Kerry on his surfboard and Mitt Romney’s comment “Who let the dogs out..”.

The Clinton campaign’s disgusting, political tactics

hillary-behind-a-curtain.jpg

So Obama is only where he is because he’s black.

Forget about his intellect, his determination, his hard-work, his charisma, his personal integrity etc…forget about all of that…he only got where he is because he’s a black man in America, because being a black man in America comes with loads and I mean loads of advantages..LOL LOL…LOL..LOL..

Now you know it doesn’t surprise me that one of the Clinton people Geraldine Ferraro, former Democratic Vice Presidential candidate and Clinton fundraiser would make such a demeaning comment about Obama.

From the onset of this process the Clintons have been trying to relegate Obama to the sidelines and to confine him in a political box by simply defining him as the ’black candidate’.

Bill Clinton tried in South Carolina with his comments about Jesse Jackson when no such question was posed. Didn’t work!

But that was just the tip of the iceberg before that there was the fairy tale comment, Hillary Clinton and the Martin Luther King needed Lyndon Johnson comment and the Ed Rendell and whites not voting for Obama  comments (this maybe the case but should it be accepted and reinforced by a governor/elected official?) and those  are the comments that have garnered national attention!

Who knows what else has been said at the rallies and events when the cameras were turned off and the reporters weren’t listening?

I understand that this is national politics and if you’re going to play with the big boys and gals you’ve got to throw down. You’ve got to punch hard and be able to take a few punches as well but the Clintons have taken this political boxing match to a new level in trying to appeal to their base supporters.

Clinton, as I’ve discussed before appeals to a specific type of voter in the democratic party white, uneducated, low income individuals. And these individuals in particular look at Obama with some reservations some will claim that it’s because of his lack of  so called ‘experience’, his policies etc, etc but I believe that if we strip away the facade and the bs, many, low income, white voters have their reservations because of the color of his skin.

We can examine the reasons for this in another blog but in all honesty this is their choice if Obama is unable to sway them with his arguments and his message and his beliefs then Clinton should receive their vote and vice-versa.

However, what truly bothers me and many other black voters, to be so presumptuous, is the fact that the Clintons who were so warmly embraced by the African American community would so readily exploit the reservations of this particular community (and that of the Hispanic community as well) for their own political advantage.

And these efforts have exposed the ‘true’ political selves of the Clintons and they have shown themselves to be just as capabale of maintaining, perpetuating and exploiting stereotypes of African Americans as many others white politicians have done and continue to do.

The Clintons were supposed to be the antithesis to this type of politician but instead they have shown themselves to be cut from same cloth as all the other politicians  regardless of party affiliation and thus they do not deserve to be held up as beacons of virtue in the black community.

The Clintons have exposed themselves once too many times this political season and the fact that the candidate or the campaign have not distanced themselves and fired Ms.Ferraro is a silent signal to those in her base who fear or might be slightly uncomfortable with the idea of the first black presidency that once again the only reason Obama is here is because he’s black and if you don’t vote for Hillary then that’s exactly what you’re going to get and that this is something to fear and reject.

I’m disgusted and ashamed of the Clintons but not at all surprised and neither should you what should surprise you, is if it fails to work in Pennsylvania?

*Update* Ferraro resigned but you know what the damage has already been done..

And for the record..I don’t think or believe for a moment that Ferraro or the Clintons are racist but I do believe that the Clinton campaign has been trying to capitalize on the fears and in some cases the prejudice that some people have in regards to black people and to me the minute you do that, that is unacceptable regardless of your race..**

David Shuster back on MSNBC..

david-shuster.jpg

First time I’ve seen David Shuster on the air since he was suspended for that Chelsea Clinton comment.. he was on air during Morning Joe..it’s nice to see him again..I like him.. I hope he hasn’t been permanently scarred because of this…

Now the Bob Johnson, Clinton affair..

Clinton will not fire Bob Johnson. It seems she accepts Bob Johnson at ‘his word’ that he was not talking about Obama’s cocaine use..she will still support him..she accepts what he said..

She said that his comments were out of bounds but yet she keeps him on her campaign?

Hypocrisy?
