I needed something to take my mind off the fact that Democrats and President Obama have already blown the 2010 elections by messing up health care refrom.
So I started fooling around on You Tube. After watching numerous kitten videos and ridiculous spoofs of back in the day cartoon shows, I came across this wicked track Spinnin’ by British Emcee Speech Debelle.
And what a distraction she proved to be! Not only am I lovin’ her name-Speech Debelle, I’m feelin’ her music and I can relate just a tiny bit to the lyrics and her story. And that’s saying a lot these days..ain’t it? lol
Anyway, Speech Debellejust released her debut album, appropriately titled Speech Therapy. I haven’t heard a female emcee this good in years! Granted, Debelle is no Lauryn Hill but you don’t have to listen too closely to hear Hill’s influence on the South London rapper.

His sadistic behaviour, her naive acceptance of it and her resulting forgiveness of him leaves me with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and a sour taste in my mouth BUT I’m not surprised . Many victims forgive their partners and tolerate intimate partner abuse for years and should they find the strength of will to leave they are at a high risk of being killed by their former partners and Rihanna with all her wealth and beauty is no different.
But their case is different for obvious reason the entire world is watching. And her ’forgiveness’ of him will have serious and lasting consequencesfor domestic violence agencies and law enforcement across the US. Domestic violence advocates better brace themselves for the onslaught of victims who will unfortunateley and undoubtedly say, “If Rihanna can go back to Chris Brown after all that shit why can’t I go back to him/her?” and victims who are already unwilling to prosecute will now site their reconciliation as proof of why charges aren’t necessary ‘because we’re working things out’, because of these two people the entire DV world has just got a whole lot harder as if it needed to be.
Hip Hop has been dead to me for a few years now, glorification of a ghetto lifestyle, videos and a station (BET) that left me feeling humiliated every time I watched it were eliminated from my life.
But these two with, this one song, have resurrected hip hop for me with lyrics, beat and a series of messages..Hip Hop is slowly, slowly coming back to my life, I don’t know how long it will last but for now this song is on blast!

So, Clinton vows to fight onafter losing North Carolina, barely winning Indiana with dwindling campaign finances and personal loans to her campaign, she’s out to prove that she’s no Eight Belles (I know, I know bad taste but I couldn’t resist..I mean Big Brown, Eight Belles..lol) well that’s her choice but if I were a member of Obama’s campaign or a ‘superdelegate’ this is what I would be saying/ singing right about now..
Have you ever wondered what the rapper equivalent of the presidential candidates would be?
I must confess I haven’t but if you want to see who Obama and Clinton would be in the world of hip hop give this a look.. and that Dennis Kucinich/flava flav comparison cracks me up everytime…
