So what if Obama smokes cigarettes?

obama-smoking-2

Obama is still smoking. You know it and I know it and if you believed that he really had quit that smile he gave on Meet the Press yesterday was a dead giveaway that he hasn’t.

According to him he’s tried to quit and he’s ‘ fallen off the wagon a few times ‘, code words for, ” You know I do, but you just wouldn’t catch me…” lol

But people, is it really a big deal that he smokes?  Don’t we have bigger things to worry about?

We’re losing our jobs and our homes. Our country is falling apart, state by state, figuratively and physically  and we’re worrying about whether or not the man at the wheel, the President of the United States gets a bit of satisfaction from puffing on a cigarette?

Gimme a break!!!

Smoking is a digusting habit and Obama obviously tries really, really hard to quit for his own health but I for one am not going to be worried about whether or not he lights up in the White House. I’m more worried about whether or not I’m going to have a job next year and if I’m going to be able to get a student loan for law school.

And if you don’t have more important things to worry about, good for you, you’re definitely one in a million but the press et al shouldn’t try to convince me that Obama’s smoking is one of the things that I should lose sleep over ’cause he isn’t (believe me he’s more worried about Detroit collapsing) I’m not and I’m sure millions of my fellow Americans aren’t going too either.

***UPDATE*** As of March 1, 2010 Obama is still smoking..and the world is still turning!

Kilpatrick should stop killing Detroit and resign immediately

Kwame Kilpatrick the scandal plagued and proned  Mayor of Detroit should resign immediately.

He has not only disrespected himself and his family by his actions but he has shown no respect for the office of Mayor or for the people of Detroit ( by using city money to cover up his affair and then crying racism when the press starts to investigate) and so he does not deserve or should he serve another day in that office.

Why he was elected boggles my mind..but that’s a blog for another day.

As a former resident of Detroit, I always speak with a heavy heart when talking about Detroit. I love the city of Detroit. From it’s historic downtown buildings,  KING’s BOOKSTORE, Greektown, to the surrounding liberal enclaves of Royal Oak and Ferndale. Detroit grabbed me at first sight and it’s a pity I had to let go, but it’s high crime, high (catastrophic, in my opinion) unemployment and lack of true vision by it’s leaders caused me to relocate within the past year.

I could not grow in Detroit and unfortunately it seems the Motor City is doomed to fail because of leaders like Kwame Kilpatrick and Coleman Young . And while its residents long for and dream of the golden days of yore their leaders rape and pillage the city’s coffers and use the city’s name and extensive good will towards it to advance their own political and professional careers

Kwame Kilpatrick is a failure.

Detroiters and Michiganders are not.

They deserve better but first they must expect more and ask more of themselves and from those who lead them.

N.B I know I haven’t blogged in a while, please humble reader accept my sincere apology, however once again life got the better of me (well not really but it certainly caused me not to blog..lol) but I’m back and hopefully better..join me once again on my journey.

A Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket is the only option..

clinton-and-obama-looking-presidential-2.jpg

Well, Well, Well…Clinton won three out of the four states last night. I must admit I didn’t see that coming (check out my last post..lol) good for her bad for us ‘Obama-mamites’…lol nah just kidding…but seriously she won not by playing FAIR but by playing up FEAR another tactic that unfortunately for her has a very, very short life span when it comes to Democrats but it worked and Texas unexpectedly slid into her column.

Clinton has once again used tactics that I wouldn’t have expected from a Democrat, let alone Hillary Clinton, to beat another Democrat but she’s gotta do what she’s gotta do and instead of eloquently voicing my anger and frustration in this blog I have chosen instead to focus on where we go from here now that it is quite clear that neither democratic candidate intends to budge and rightfully so before the convention.

Hillary intends to fight on and that is her prerogative I don’t think that she should be forced out prematurely let the people decide.  The rules and only the rules should determine how and when she concedes to Obama. Obama shouldn’t be pushed to concede either because he doesn’t have the full support of the so called party establishment (super delegates or whatever). Now, if a nominee isn’t decided by June then it’s up to Michigan and Florida. If these two states are allowed to redo their primaries then their delegates should be seated since both candidates would’ve been allowed to fully campain within their boundaries and the results would ultimately have been fair and it seems that both camps as well as party officicals in both states are in favor of this possible solution.

If after the Michigan and Florida do overs in June and we still don’t have a nominee Obama and Clinton should sit down and decide to be on the same ticket for this is only way to coalesce and appease all the different groups Obama and Clinton have amassed in their respective bases and all these groups will be needed in order for the democratic party and the democratic presidential nominee to march triumphantly towards a win in the general election.

To be quite honest if you had asked me a few weeks ago if I would’ve been in favor of this I would’ve said NO WAY because I haven’t approved of the statements made by Bill Clinton, surrogates in the Clinton campaign or the attitude of Hillary herself towards Obama’s candidacy however, if this is not settled sooner rather than later McCain will have a BIG advantage on the Democratic nominee in November and the prospect of another Republican presidency, even that of John McCain is distasteful and unacceptable.

But I will say this if Obama gets to the convention and is then pushed aside by the super delegates for Clinton I will sit out this election and I will do everything in my power to get other Obama supporters to do so as well..I may even consider joining the Republican party..who knows.. because the idea of the democratic party elite choosing the nominee instead of the people is undemocratic and against everything that I believe liberals and the democratic party should stand for.

However, if the two candidates reach a mutual decision that puts country and party first and the people are also in agreement how can I not support an Obama/Clinton, Clinton/Obama ticket!

Now that’s the real question which name goes first..maybe they’ll toss a coin?..LOL

Clinton people don’t mind do-overs but they have to be primaries but of course…

terry_mcauliffe.jpg

Terry Mcauliffe, Clinton’s campaign chairman wants Michigan and Florida delegates to count and it they are ’do overs’ he wants them to be primaries and not caucuses well of course he does right.. he gave some BS excuse that primaries allow people more time to vote and that they are easier for people to get too…lol..!!

Man, the Clinton people aren’t just throwing the kitchen sink, they are throwing the sink, all the plumping even the whole damn kitchen but I’m willing to put my neck on the block and say that if there is a do over in Michigan Hillary will  NOT win!

She only won in Michigan because the voters knew that their votes didn’t count and frankly didn’t care now that they have seen that their votes can and could make or break the nomination they aren’t going to back her and that’s with or without Detroit!

Democrats on the economy..

All there candidates economic plans/policies all sound very similar. There plans might be able to jump start the economy in specific areas but I don’t know if would jump start specific economies, particularly state economies like Michigan’s.

He finally got one. Mitt Romney wins Michigan..

Mitt Romney

NBC projected Mitt Romney as the winner of the Michigan Republican primary..surprise, surprise!

How many millions did he have to spend to get one?

Romney and his another silver speech..pleezzzz

romney-2.jpg

Romney is giving his concession speech and once again not saying anything substantive at all let’s see if he does..

It’s amazing that even when he’s trying to look modest and humble he fails, ok..I get the vibe he’s still going on to Michigan..he’s talking about changing Washington and getting the job done so that means he’s still up for a fight and he’s willing to loose some more money..ok then and now he’s talking about his next and final battleground Michigan..

Ok..I thought he was going to tear up there for a minute his voice cracked..ok..he didn’t cry..I wouldn’t have been surprised though if had..
