I don’t think many people could read what Dr.Regina Benjamin has accomplished in the rural town of Bayou La Batre, Alabama and not tear up.
Dr.Benjamin gave up lucrative career opportunities only to watch the practice she helped to build with her own hands be destroyed twice by hurricanes-Hurricane Georges in 1998 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
She has used her own money, gone without pay, accepts what ever her patients can afford, makes house calls all in in an effort to deliver quality, preventative medical care to the residents of this small rural town.
Nothing stops Dr. Benjamin. Not rain. Not fire. Not money. With a dedicated staff firmly by her side, including 78 year old nurse Nell Stoddard, Benjamin continues to receive numerous accolades and awards for her valiant attempts and successes at providing affordable health care at her family practice clinic, helping others establish rural clinics across the nation when interviewed Benjamin has said that her goal in establishing the clinic was, ” To find a way to provide the best possible medical care to patients who often can’t afford health insurance and the only way to do that was to learn how to run a business efficiently.”
Should Benjamin become the next US Surgeon General and she still maintains the goal of finding ‘a way to provide the best possible medical care to patients who can’t afford health insurance’ you better believe she will have just as big an impact on the nations’ health care system as she’s had on La Batre, Alabama.

Today at Obama’s Health Care Summit at the White House Senator Ted Kennedy who doesn’t appear to be ailing, declared that this time ’we will not fail’ at achieving health care reform/universal health care for all Americans.
It seems Sir Ted is ready for a fight. Brain tumor be damned!
You go Sir Ted!
We got cha your back!
On another note, I love these White House/Obama summits. In January there was the Fiscal Responsibility Summit today it’s the Health Care Reform summit. It’s so healthy and democratic to see the President and our political leaders, Republican and Democrats, working together on a issue if only for one day.
I know it’s just one big photo op nevertheless it’s extremely refreshing and it makes for riveting day time television.

If he did indeed withdraw his nomination willingly, he did the honorable thing. Good. And though this is a clear failure for the Obama administration and for Senator Daschle, remember it’s better ‘to fail with honor than succeed by fraud.’

Doctors are being asked to rat out their patients, thus making them ineligible for health insurance, because the INSURANCE companies wants them too..
This is unbelievable, unbelievable you would think with the all the bad press the insurance companies have been getting over the last year including SICKO, Nataline Sarkisyan the 17 year old teen who died after being denied a liver transplant and the possibility of universal health care looming on the horizon, if a democrat is elected to congress, that the insurance companies would try to at least stay out of the limelight but I guess nothing stops them they just keep trying to suck every last drop of blood out of us with or without our consent!

Obama’s health care plan.. says that they are 15 million that don’t want health care.. I don’t believe that but he says that he will provide incentives to those out there to encourage them to buy it and require parents to buy insurance for their kids..
Hillary health care plan….she will open to the federal health care to plan to everyone..she will provide subsidies and cap premiums to make it affordable to everyone..
Once again John Edwards is mentioned..
Hmm..Obama wants to lower premiums that is critical because if you can’t afford the one you currently have, how will you able to afford the government’s? He’s actually going to invest in preventative care, just like the Europeans and most health care systems around the world including many in the so called developing world…
You know, I think a combination of these two plans would be the most successful, because if you mandate people many will resist even if it’s in their best interests..
And we’ll be able to watch (ignore..lol) all these deliberations on CSPAN

(a sovereign wealth fund is a fund owned by a state composed of financial assets such as stocks, bonds, property or other financial instruments).
Obama, talks about an energy policy in helping to rebuild the economy again. Talking about restoring accountability and regulatory financial oversight over the markets.
Edwards, talking about jobs, universal health care and he’s talking about creating a million jobs and cracking down on ‘predatory’ pay day lenders..
