Levi Johnstonbecame known for one thing- fathering Sarah Palin’s grandchild with her daughter Bristol Palin.
However, over the past few days, if you didn’t know better you might’ve thought Johnston was a seasoned political commentator. He’s been appearing on morning shows and most recently on CNNvoicing his opinion on Sarah Palin’s resignation.
Of course Johnston has a right to his opinion and in certain cases, the media speaking to knowledgeable family members can give the public valuable insight into a candidate or an individual, but not in this case. This guy doesn’t have any credibility or political knowledge so the media shouldn’t be legitimizing his opinions by broadcasting them around the world. I’m willing to bet they are only a handful of people in this country who would trust Levi Johnston’s opinion on the right brand of jeans let alone his opinions onwho to vote for.
Yet they keep seeking his opinion. I’m sure they don’t actually believe that Johnston’s opinion on Palin could actually contribute to a more informed electorate so the continuing focus on Levi Johnston’s opinion by the mainstream media is just baffling.
A 21-year old woman in Cambridge, Minnesota allegedlycalled her grandmother 45 times in one day and threatened to kill her. This is in addition to telling the 69 year old woman that “she was being watched” and that ”she’s going to die”.
And why would a grandchild do this to a grandparent? You might think she did this because her grandmother was a Nazi or pedophile or something equally horrid right? WRONG! She did it because she was BORED!
Can you believe this?
With all the activities out there to become involved in, books to read, movies to watch, thrift stores to search through, my girl couldn’t find anything else better to do than to call her grandmother up WITH A FRIEND and scare her to death! SHE DID THIS WITH A FRIEND!!!
Seriously, the next time your nana starts to scold you for not calling her more often, tell her this story I think she’ll go to bed a lot happier with you that night. She may even send you a couple bucks in the mail! LOL
I came across a really cool blog today on one of myGoogle adventures.
It’s an awesome blog written by Donald Mills called The Problem With Young People Today Is and yes the name appropriately describes his musings and observations on young people and life today.
I really liked his observations of my generation and his latest post onsweatpants with words across the backside is hilarious! My grandmother hates those sweatpants too, she thinks they are crude! LOL
Anyway, I’m considering myself one of his newest fans even if I am one of those ‘damned young people’ he continually disses.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I really like this Twitter thing. Go ahead, call me a fraud..I can take it..lol at least I’m honest.
Granted, I only have two followers and I really don’t expect the number to grow anytime soon but I’m already day dreaming about hitting that 100 mark..100 followers boy, I’m setting the bar really high aren’t I? LOL
His sadistic behaviour, her naive acceptance of it and her resulting forgiveness of him leaves me with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and a sour taste in my mouth BUT I’m not surprised . Many victims forgive their partners and tolerate intimate partner abuse for years and should they find the strength of will to leave they are at a high risk of being killed by their former partners and Rihanna with all her wealth and beauty is no different.
But their case is different for obvious reason the entire world is watching. And her ’forgiveness’ of him will have serious and lasting consequencesfor domestic violence agencies and law enforcement across the US. Domestic violence advocates better brace themselves for the onslaught of victims who will unfortunateley and undoubtedly say, “If Rihanna can go back to Chris Brown after all that shit why can’t I go back to him/her?” and victims who are already unwilling to prosecute will now site their reconciliation as proof of why charges aren’t necessary ‘because we’re working things out’, because of these two people the entire DV world has just got a whole lot harder as if it needed to be.
This past Sunday at a black church in Chicago Barack Obama talked aboutthe epidemic that has infected and continues to spread throughout the black community-absentee fathers.
I applaud him for having the guts to talk about this issue, at a black church, to a black audience on Father’s Day and I seriously hope he continues to talk about it every single chance he gets not just on Father’s Day. But Obama and high profile celebrities likeBill Cosbyshouldn’t be the only ones addressing this issue this is a national issue and it calls for a national solution.
Yes, I know, we didn’t create the problem but we should all be part of the solution because we all have a vested interest in making sure that the majority of black youths are able to fully realize their potential and that black single parent homes become the exception rather than the rule.
In a society that preaches that every child should have a decent shot at making it in America can we HONESTLY say that these children, many from low income families and with ever present economic and social barriers, will have or have that shot if we allow men to be mere absent ‘baby daddies’ rather than committed fathers?
The Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination is ours and the next step is the presidency of the United States of America ..THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING!!!
Today could be the day that Barack Obama, a black man, a young, black man, finally clinches the Presidential nomination of the Democratic Party for the first time ever in the history of the United States!
Will I watch the first black president of the United States, the first black first lady and the first black familywalk onto a stage in St.Paul, Minnesota later this evening to cheers and screams of happiness from a predominatly white audience?
Have I and will I continue to watch the hopes and dreams of a people, of a country become automatically embodied in thelife and work of one man, once again?
Will I watch today in awe as a baton is passedfrom one generation to another?
Has this all been a dream?
Have I and thousands of others like me been living in a fantasy world for the last 16 months?
No!
Today is the day that everything changes.
Today is the day that we start building a new and brighter future together!
Today is the day that we recognize that nothing will ever, ever be the same again and yet with that knowledge we walk gallantly into the future better prepared and significantly more uplifted than we have ever been in the past.
Today is not just Barack Obama’s day..today, is OUR day!!!
Andrew Young a prominent civil rights activist and Hillary Clinton supporter said this recently on a webcast:
“Hillary Clinton, first of all, has Bill behind her…and Bill is every bit as black as Barack.
This statement is quite bothersome to me and to lots of young black people in my community.
I could never understand why prominent African Americans feel the need to say that Bill Clinton is black in order to enhance his appeal to our community. This statement should never have been made and it sure as hell shouldn’t have been adopted by us.
Bill Clinton and by extension his wife Hillary are not black. Bill may have been a big supporter of our issues and causes but he will never fully understand the black experience in this country and when these prominent activists makes comments like the one above to us, to young people me like me, you unfortunately denigrate us and our experiences and belittle our fights.
To me it evokes the same feelings as when I’m talking to white kid/person (I live in the suburbs just to give you a better picture..lol) who is decked out in Hip Hop gear and because I’m black he or she starts to speak in a certain vernacular that THEY associate with African Americans or when some white people assume that because I’m black I know who all the latest rappers are, their songs or that I’m the biggest fan of Oprah or that I only watch shows that contain African Americans.
It’s insulting
You can never be black by association or by adopting certain fashions, or by listening to certain types of music…it just doesn’t work that way if it did I would be able to call myself white or East Indian orsomething.
Why do I say that?
Well, let’s see I grew up in a household with a biracial mother, my white grandfather, white aunts and great aunts where my babysitters, and played games almost every day with my East Indian uncles and cousins.
So, if you gain your race by adoption I guess I could pick one of these but I can’t or more importanly I would never do it.
I’m proud of who am I. I’m proud of my people. I’m proud of our accomplishments and I KNOW who I am.
So, my advice to those supporting Bill and Hillary Clinton is to stop refering to Bill as being black you’re not making it better for Hillary, you’re just making it worst.
Is it just me or have the people ( i call them ’background’ people..) behind Senator Clinton suddenly got a whole lot younger/younger looking?
She was just on CNN answering a question posed by Bill O’Reilly at one of her New Hampshire rallies and I couldn’t help but notice all the young people in her background audience..
I wonder if she’s taking a page out of Obama’s book? hmm…..
